Blog #2

Buenos Dias, (Pues, Buenos Tardes)
Okay.
I have a couple of achievements, some large, mostly minor. This year, I founded the African-American Leaders of Tomorrow Club at Burke High School, where I executed the first Ethnic Talent Showcase (we raised over $100 to help send the ROCKSTARS to Washington D.C.) I received the Presidential Volunteer Award for 100+ hours of volunteering with the United Way of the Midlands. I received 2 Silver Medals for Poetry and Essay Writing at the ACTSO competition, and I received Honorable Mention for the DJ Hero Scholarship Award.
The issue that matters the most to me is the exploitation/molestation of children in the United States, and abroad. I totally advocate for the innocence of children, and I firmly believe that those who taint it ought to be handled accordingly (sounds kind of Draconian...it is). This issue matters so much to me because it makes me (as a potential law student) want to use the Constitution to protect the liberties of those who are unable to speak for themselves.
The person who has had the greatest amount of influence on me is my mom because she's absolutely the best. She has persevered through alot, yet she continously instills wisdom in me (even if I don't want it). She always keeps me going, even when I am weary (that sounds like a poem).
I would like to attend Yale because, although I haven't achieved the perfect 36, I have the leadership skills that Yale is hoping to instill in the world already, and I am a hard worker. Yale has the academic caliber that I seek in a school, as well as the motivated students who are committed to attaining an excellent education in the hopes of creating a more diverse, accepting, and hopeful world.
